Becky Waite is an artist-maker based in the North West of England. Her work focuses on colour and the transforming properties of light. Using the pure colour of found plastics she creates jewel-like sculptural pieces from post consumer waste. Traditional folk embroidery techniques are adapted to form decorative construction methods for three dimensional pieces. The uneasy dichotomy between the seduction of preciousness and the excess of conspicuous consumption informs the work. |
